National Taichung University of Education was established in 1997. It is not only the first of its kind in the country but also the first "professional academic research institution for educational measurement, assessment, and statistics" in Asia. It has set a precedent for cultivating academic talents in measurement and statistics. A doctoral program was established in 2005.
