Caritas Cheng Shing-fung Neighbourhood Elderly Centre is people-oriented. In response to the needs of the elderly, it provides a wide range of appropriate community support services, including education and development, dementia support services, counselling services, caregiver services, etc. Recently, the centre has been actively developing innovative services to meet the needs of the elderly in the district, such as the "Jockey Club Ageing with You Programme" which focuses on preventing elderly depression, providing individual counselling, group and community education. In order to support those with mild to moderate dementia and their families, through the "Dementia Community Support Scheme", the centre adopts a medical-community cooperation model to enhance care and support services at the community level, enabling them to receive appropriate care services in the community and providing relevant support to caregivers. At the same time, in order to improve the quality of life of service users, the centre has also been focusing on promoting life education services in recent years. It reviews the value of life with the elderly, promotes the Four Paths of Life, allowing the elderly to enjoy their later years without regrets. Taking "community" as the foundation, in light of the characteristics and resources of the community, it cares for the disadvantaged, advocates the participation of the elderly in community affairs, and fulfills the responsibilities of citizens. Sham Shui Po is an old district in Hong Kong with a large elderly population. The centre's elderly support team and monthly meetings aim to establish and strengthen the elderly network, cultivate and organize community volunteers, cooperate with different volunteer groups, and care for the elderly living alone and hidden elderly in the district. The centre also encourages the elderly to engage in continuous learning and diverse development. Through different types of Evergreen College classes, it enhances and cultivates the learning interests of the elderly, enables the elderly to give full play to their talents, and achieves the spirit of remaining active in old age.
